I've been out of college for five years {does that make me old?} but I still remember buying and attempting to return textbooks like it was yesterday. This is probably because this task was never a pleasant one. Every semester I would spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks, so of course I expected to receive at least some money back when I finished my classes and went to the campus book store to return them. Sometimes I'd receive a couple of dollars per book but usually they would not accept them back because another verison of the same book had already been released. I found that this usually happened with my international affairs/political science books and they were always the most expensive. After disappointment at the campus book store, I would try to sell them on Amazon. If only I had had CampusBookRentals.com to help me out. Who wants to buy textbooks you'll never read again when you can rent them instead?
They also have a new RentBack program that allows students to rent the textbooks they already own. This is a great initiative because it allows them to make 2-4x more money compared to what they'd make through buyback options!
And it just keeps getting better. CampusBookRentals.com has partnered with Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an organization that performs life changing cleft lip surgeries and with every textbook rental, CampusBookRentals.com will donate to them!
How does it work?:
My husband will be starting his MBA program soon and you bet we'll be renting his books!

If only they had this a few years back...The money spent on books makes me ill...and the profs are always opting for new editions so I never got any money back either... I love the idea of "Operation Smile". Such a great cause!
I graduated in 2008, and I wish I could've rented my textbooks at the time. I always got man handles out of my money...lol! I feel old too. Following via "A lovely Blog Hop."
